You plant them, water them, let them get plenty of sunlight, we'll say you do everything right. (What are the chances of that?) And you get the best crop you've had in years. (Unless you just started of course.) You harvest, and take the seeds out of the fruit to plant next year. The next spring, you plant the seeds, and again you do everything right. (If the chances of doing everything right once are slim, what are the chances of doing everything right twice in a row?) But~nothing comes up!
What happened? These seeds are in fact, Hybrids. They have no fertility. They are Genetically Modified Organisms's bred to not reproduce so you have to go buy more!
But, there is a solution!
Heirloom seeds!
These are NOT GMO's, and they will grow back next year!
So it is worth every cent!
Also if there is a national food shortage (Which there very well could be..), You will have food in abundance because you were smart (We hope.) and planned ahead and bought the reproducing seeds!
So do the right thing for you and your family, and invest in something that will last quite a bit longer than a year!
